Our
HISTORY
The history of county Cork based Collins Transport can be traced back to the 1920’s when Dave Collins, after working for many years hauling the produce of local farmers by horse and cart, purchased his first truck in 1928.
However, fuel shortages brought about by the war meant that use of the truck was very much restricted and his horses had to be brought back to daily transport chores.
As soon as economic conditions allowed, Dave undertook all work with his truck and therein started a long tradition of a family business steeped in road haulage.
Dave Collins continued his work in general haulage for many years. His son Ted eventually took over the running of Collins Transport from the 1960’s to the late 1980’s. Ted's wife Kitty became an integral part of the business and proved to be an invaluable business partner.
Today, brothers Mike and Tadgh are proud to carry on the legacy and tradition from their parents Ted and Kitty.
